When people heard about classes getting cancelled for a week due to COVID-19, they were joyous. Soon after, though, came the announcement that in-person classes were getting cancelled for the rest of the semester, and that students would have to travel home. THEN came the announcement from Governors across the States, telling residents to self-isolate and stay home for the foreseeable future.
I don’t need to sum up everything that happened in between; y’all know it and have been flooded with information pertaining to it by now. This time is really difficult for everyone and my heart especially goes out to individuals who are sick, individuals with no place to call home or a home that is unsafe, and people who have lost their jobs or that now face job insecurity.
I know that this post will not by any means help anyone out of unemployment- but I wanted to provide some ways that you can make money at home, while quarantining. Hopefully this helps someone make some extra income during this extraordinarily hard time.
Fiverr is a great platform where freelance artists, writers, coders, editors, tutors, designers, and everything in between can offer their services to people looking for help.
I personally have used the website for complicated website tasks like domain transferring and graphic design, and have found every service to be incredibly helpful.
You might think that you have nothing to offer on this platform… but please don’t knock it until you try it! There are so many services people need assistance with and I’m sure you have something to provide.
I listed my Pinterest Growth/ Pinterest Virtual Assistant services on their (even though it was SO intimidating), but I’m proud I did it!
Use this link to sign up as a seller or to make an account to purchase a service from one of the freelancers.
Selling Clothes on Poshmark
Y’all know I love my Poshmark.
As a secondhand, thrift-loving, sustainable fashion blogger, Poshmark has been my OG app for both buying and selling used clothes.
Spring is a GREAT time to do a closet clean out, so take this quarantine opportunity to purge your closet of anything you haven’t worn in the last year.
Then, take the items and list them on Poshmark! This is also a great time to buy on Poshmark since everybody is trying to sell! Use code: ZIPPYHI for an extra $10 off your order!
Selling Clothes on ThredUP
Although it is similar to the last idea, selling clothes on ThredUP is something that is perfect to do during this time.
ThredUP works a little bit differently- instead of having to list items individually and create a selling price for them, ThredUP asks that you ship them all your clothes you want to try and sell. From there, ThredUP employees will determine the value of your clothes and the listing price.
This is an easier option for those who have less time; all you do is throw your clothes in a bag and ship them off!
Reviewing Music
On SlicethePie.com, you can review the music of unsigned bands and artists and make a small amount of money for each posted review.
Online Tutoring
This one is especially for all my fellow college gals and guys! Even though it may seem like you finished middle and high school AGES ago, you have only quite recently graduated from both and are still not done with school!
Use this to your advantage and advertise online tutoring services to your neighbors or family friends. You might be out of touch with certain subjects (cough- calculus- cough), but probably will surprise yourself with how quickly you can catch up.
Online tutoring is a wonderful service to provide, especially since many kids right now are navigating their first online classes ever. It can be a really profitable and rewarding venture!
Get Creative!
Now is the perfect time to do some ~arts n crafts~. Whether it be making earrings out of clay, painting jean jackets, or embroidering custom work… start creating!
There are TONS of tutorials on YouTube on how to do LITERALLY anything.
Pursue one that you feel really interested and you will improve in no time. Sell these on an Instagram page or on Etsy!
That’s all I’ve got for now, but let me know if you have any ideas about different ways to make money during this time! Sending love xx
