Positive Climate News of the Week – February 26

It’s easy to feel down with the constant influx of negative news surrounding the future (and present) state of our planet… but rest assured there are good things happening for the planet and its people every single day! Check out this week’s good news. 

Atlanta created the country’s largest free food forest in a neighborhood where the nearest grocery store is 30 minutes away.

Students at Chapman University successfully petitioned to add a course on Environmental Justice to University course offerings. The first session of the course will be taught by an Indigenous professor. 

The Empire State Building (and 13 other buildings owned by Empire State Reality Trust) are now 100% powered by Wind energy. It is now the largest user of green power in real estate.

A school district in Arkansas has saved over $300,000/year  through the installation of solar panels and general energy efficiency improvements. Money saved is going directly to raising teachers’ salaries.

Plans for Europe’s largest gas plant, to be developed by Drax, were scrapped after consistent pressure by activists.
